Thanks to our Beta users for being so helpful (and tolerant!) during the pre-launch. We discovered that a number of users in the trial experienced problems receiving the confirming email required to activate a flyBurst account. Just to go over the process, a first-time user (that's you, but you are more than a "user" to us!") should:
- Log into the flyBurst "Sport Seeker" registration page.
- Complete the required profile information, agree to our legal mumbo jumbo, and click "save."
- Open his/her email system to find an email from flyBurst and then click on an embedded hyperlink to activate the account. User is then directed back to the flyburst site and can login with the activated user id and password.
Pretty easy, right?
For a number of folks Step #3 - receiving the activation email - never happened! This saddened us greatly. We don’t like to annoy our customers, we don’t have that many yet! Turns out the IP address which sends the automated email was put on a sort of spam blacklist. Email providers like Yahoo, AOL, and corporate email systems subscribe to the list and block incoming emails from these listed IP addresses. We were able to clear things up with the
anti-spam clearinghouse (we initially sent them an email, but that got rejected. We just called!). We should be good to go. Wasn't it Socrates who said, "That's why we test.”
