flyburst is proud to partner with the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) to promote its mission to provide all youth and high school athletes a positive, character-building youth sports experience. Since its 1998 launch at Stanford University by Founder and Chief Executive Officer Jim Thompson, PCA has impacted more than 4 million youth athletes. Central to their work is their model: The Double-Goal Coach®, whose first goal is winning, and whose second, more-important goal is teaching life lessons through sports.
In partnership with PCA, flyburst will enable local sports providers, leagues, and professional to display their certification next to their program listings on flyburst’s website. Users of the site - families, schools, and community organizations - will be able to determine if a provider has received PCA training. They can use the certification as an additional piece of information when evaluating a league or program for their child. A PCA certification is good for one year and sports providers are expected to update their training annually.
PCA training focuses on three key principles -- Redefining "Winning" as Mastery of Sport, Filling Emotional Tanks and Honoring the Game -- and engages attendees through a series of interactive exercises based on common youth sports scenarios. In addition, PCA online courses are all expert-developed and designed to help coaches, parents, athletes and officials ensure that winning happens both on and off the field in youth sports.
Sports providers, leagues, and personal instructors who want to receive either PCA live workshop training or on-line training can contact PCA's Washington and Mid-Atlantic Representative, Clint Sanchez by email at clint_sanchez@positivecoach.org. For questions about how to display your PCA certiifcation on flyburst, please email support@flyburst.com.
